Brief Description of Research ProjectThe proposal recommends establishing an undergraduate certificate titled "Certificate in Rail Transportation Engineering" through the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in collaboration with the Rail Transportation Program (RTP) at Michigan Tech Transportation Institute (MTTI). The certificate would be initially targeted for students in the civil and environmental engineering (CEE) department or general engineering. The certificate is designed to give CEE students from a university level specialization oriented toward the needs of the rail industry. The Certificate design also will allow a future expansion to other engineering departments.
